The Duckfest committee has made the difficult decision to cancel Duckfest, scheduled for October 3, 2020. There were several contributing factors that caused us to make this decision.
Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our guests, sponsors and vendors who support Duckfest. We continue to witness the devastating impact of COVID both across our community and the nation. Earlier this week, Missouri’s total number of COVID-19 cases surpassed 60,000 as the virus continues to spread statewide. Recently, the Centers for Disease Control reported the sobering news that the United States has more than 5 million cases of coronavirus.
While the ‘traditional’ Duckfest event will not take place in the way that we intended, we continue to strive toward our purpose – raising money for local charities. Proceeds from Duckfest benefit Emmaus Homes, a local non-profit that supports more than 250 adults with developmental disabilities.
Emmaus has remained diligent in their actions to protect the clients they are entrusted to serve, and the heroic team members who care for them. Emmaus’ work to diminish the risk has resulted in more than $1,000,000 in emergency expenses for their organization, $250,000 of which they still need to fund. Would you consider making a donation to Duckfest for COVID-19 relief? Your gift would go directly to helping Emmaus with these expenses.
Thank you for your support of Duckfest and we hope to see you at Duckfest 2021!
